Apr 17 - Martello Towers. These towers caused a lot of problems to the Royal Navy in 1794, such that our coastal defences borrowed their design

May 16 - Grande Armée and the Wimille Column. Napoleon's preparation for the invasion of England, including the Battle of Trafalgar

Jun 19 - Bizet and Carmen. Bizet revolutionised opera by using chorus singers as moving actors. Bizet was not a successful composer until he met Carmen. Very successful after his death.

Jul 17 - What is English? Evolution of the English language from all our invaders, e.g. Frisian, Dutch, German. Danish, Scandinavian, etc and do not forget Norman French. As a result we have words meaning the same thing but one might be more poetic than the others
